Kara Sevda (English Title: Endless Love, literal translation Dark Love) is a Turkish drama series produced by Ay Yapım and broadcast on Star TV between 2015 and 2017. It is directed by Hilal Saral and stars Turkish actors Burak Özçivit, Neslihan Atagül and Kaan Urgancıoğlu.

The series has become a milestone in the international history of the Turkish series, being awarded by the International Emmy Awards for best telenovela in 2017, becoming the first and only Turkish series to win this award. In addition, it has also been the only Turkish series to become a finalist in these awards.
Similarly, Kara Sevda received the special jury award at the Seoul International Drama Awards in Korea, where the director Hilal Saral and Burak Özçivit, one of the leading actors, traveled to collect the award.
Four years after the end of Kara Sevda, the series was awarded as “The Best International Soap Opera” in the Soap Awards France 2021. Burak Özçivit andNeslihan Atagül was the only Turkish actors nominated for “Best International Actor” and “Best International Actress” respectively.
According to Can Okan, Founder, and CEO of Inter Medya, the international distributor of the series, “words are useless when talking about the success of Kara Sevda”. The novel has become the most-watched Turkish series in the world, being broadcast in more than 110 countries with successful audiences and has been translated into more than 50 languages. Some countries where it has been broadcast are Turkey, Russia, Greece, Hungary, Morocco, France, Serbia, Romania, Germany, Iraq, Slovakia, Ukraine, Albania, Spain, Iran, Mexico, Bolivia, Panama, Uruguay, Ecuador, Slovenia, Paraguay, among others.
In its broadcast in the United States through Univision, it became the most-watched foreign soap opera in the entire history of the country and the Turkish series with the highest audience, surpassing its main competitors. The love story remains the most-watched fiction in Hispanic prime time with more than 2 million viewers every day and close to 4 million in its final episode, something that no other series has achieved. Currently, Kara Sevda remains the most-watched Turkish series in the United States.
Such has been the overwhelming success of the series that in the Wax Museum of “Tashkent City Park” in Uzbekistan, two figures of Kemal and Nihan are exhibited, the main characters of the series, in the part dedicated to Istanbul.
Kara Sevda’s YouTube channel accumulates almost 3,000,000,000 million views, being one of the most viewed Turkish series on this platform.
Kara Sevda Synopsis
Kemal (Burak Özçivit) is a young man from a working family and is studying to be a mining engineer. Nihan (Neslihan Atagul) comes from a rich family. They meet when Kemal saves Nihan from drowning. They fall in love and want to get married. Emir (Kaan Urgancioglu) has loved Nihan for years but she has no interest in him.
Nihan has a twin brother Ozcan who Emir makes believe he has killed a girl. In return for covering up the crime, he wants to marry Nihan. He will go to any lengths to get Nihan. As she loves her brother dearly she agrees to marry Emir to save her brother. She then breaks off her relationship with Kemal without giving him any explanation. Kemal goes away and on his return, he knows Nihan isn’t happy so he sets about trying to find the real truth as to why she broke up with him.

Burak Özçivit as Kemal Soydere
Burak Özçivit (born 24 December 1984) is a Turkish actor and model. Best known for his roles in Çalıkuşu (2013) and Kara Sevda (2015). He is currently starring as Osman Bey in the history-based and adventure series Kuruluş: Osman (2019). Throughout his acting career, Özçivit has been a recipient of numerous accolades.
Neslihan Atagül as Nihan
Neslihan Atagül (Istanbul, born 20 August 1992) is a Turkish actress. She is best known for her role in Kara Sevda2, one of the most successful Turkish series, sold to more than 110 countries, and the only winner of the International Emmy Award in 2017. She is currently known for her role in the series Sefirin Kızı as Nare Çelebi.
Also noteworthy are his leading roles in the series Fatih Harbiye (2013–2014) on the Show TV channel as Neriman Solmaz and in the films Araf and Senden Bana Kalan. Throughout her acting career, Neslihan has received numerous awards and accolades for her performances, including the Academy Award for “Best Actress” at the Tokyo International Film Festival.
