Güneşi Beklerken Synopsis
Zeynep (Hande Dogandemir) is a beautiful high school student with a moderate and ordinary life in a small city with her mother Demet (Ebru Aykac). Zeynep grew up without knowing her father, but she always thinks of him when she is alone. He was told that his father was a sailor and was lost at sea while on duty.
When Demet’s business is not going well, she decides to go to Istanbul with her daughter to start a new life there. They want a fresh start right away as they have lost everything. Demet’s childhood friend Jale (Deniz Türker), who lives in Istanbul, starts helping Demet and Zeynep when they come to Istanbul. Jale is the director of Sayer College, one of the famous colleges in Istanbul. She is helping Zeynep enroll in this college. Although the tuition fee is very expensive, Zeynep is accepted to this university with a scholarship.
Zeynep has to endure many difficulties in her new life. While trying to adapt to her new life in Istanbul, she also tries to get along with her shallow, privileged and wealthy classmates. Kerem (Kerem Bursin) is the king of the school and no one, not even the teachers, dares to challenge him. Handsome, arrogant, and the school owner’s son. Kerem has been bullying Zeynep since the beginning and tries everything to force Zeynep to run away from her school. However, she does not know that Zeynep is a really persistent girl who never gives up. Also, Melis (Yağmur Tanrisevsin), who is in love with Kerem and for this reason, does everything Kerem wants. Barış (İsmail Ege Sasmaz) is a close friend of Kerem and they are like brothers, but he does not tolerate Kerem’s attitude towards Zeynep. That’s why Barış Zeynep starts to help and always stays by his side. Zeynep and Barış start falling for each other and then they start dating. Together with Can and Yagmür, Kerem and Zeynep’s best friends, they begin to fall for each other.
As the story unfolds, Kerem and Zeynep begin to find themselves attractive.
On the other hand, as the story develops, it turns out that Cihan (Emre Kinay), who is a sports teacher at school, is Zeynep’s real father. This secret, buried in the past, not only changes Zeynep’s life but also changes Melis’s life. Because she is the daughter of Melis Cihan and does not want to share her father with another girl.
In this story, you will explore friendship, family relationships, and modern university life. How long does Kerem’s bullying last? Can two people from different worlds love each other? What if Zeynep finds out that her father is alive and standing in front of her? Will Zeynep find happiness in her new life?

Hande Dogandemir as Zeynep Yilmaz Guzel
Hande Doğandemir (born 22 November 1985) is a Turkish actress, TV host and sociologist. She is best known for her role as Zeynep Yılmaz Sayer on Kanal D series Güneşi Beklerken.
Doğandemir, is also known for her roles as “Şans” in the surreal comedy show Leyla ile Mecnun and Elem in Şubat.
Emre Kinay as Cihan Guzel
Emreya Kınay (born 5 March 1970) is a Turkish actor, he was born in Istanbul, Turkey. The actor is playing in various films and TV series who playing in communities like Dostlar Theater and Bakırköy Municipal Theaters. He is presently staging plays in the community of Duru Theater where he is the founder.
